Caring for destination

This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

Animal Welfare and Energy Reductions.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

The Wave Samui supports Dog And Cat Rescue Samui. The Dog and Cat Rescue Samui is an organization which was started by 2 foreign animal lovers visiting Koh Samui after seeing the thousands of stray, starving and sick dogs and cats on the island. With their initiative and passion, the Dog Rescue Centre Samui was founded in April 1999 and now provides free neutering, treatment, medication and vaccinations to Samui's dogs and cats in need. The Wave Samui has information on the organisation as well as a donation box and also proudly donates money to the needy organization by giving THB100 for every used book that is sold or bought in their library. Guests are recommended to make a donation and can offer their time and hands by being a volunteer at the centre during their stay. You can also sponsor a dog or cat for 15 Euro/month by visiting the above website or visiting the house in Chaweng or shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. All donations go to the expensive treatment costs for looking after the animals.

The Wave Samui has installed key tags in all guest rooms. By having key tags installed, this ensures all unnecessary appliances are turned off reducing energy consumption especially from high energy uses and polluting facilities such as air conditioning units. By using key tags correctly you are helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
